Early Sunday morning, several environmental activists ruined one of the President Donald Trump’s premier golf courses.
The so-called “anonymous environmental activist collective” managed to get into Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and carved “NO MORE TIGERS NO MORE WOODS” on the ground.
The group told The Washington Post that they did this in response to Trump administration’s “blatant disregard” for the environment. The statement read, “In response to the president’s recent decision to gut our existing protection policies, direct action was conceived and executed on the green of his California golf course in the form of a simple message: NO MORE TIGERS. NO MORE WOODS.”
One of the vandals said they carved the message with some gardening tools, which took them less than an hour. There were four of them, and of them said, “Tearing up the golf course felt justified in many ways. Repurposing what was once a beautiful stretch of land into a playground for the privileged is an environmental crime in its own right.” He added, “We hope this sends a message to Trump and his corrupt administration that their actions will be met with action.”
The Trump National Golf Club’s website touts its dedication to “protecting the environmentally sensitive habitat that plays host to several protected plant species and the endangered Coastal California Gnatcatcher (a small migratory bird).” It adds, “Several environmentally aware agencies — including the U.S. Fish& Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish& Game — were involved with setting up a series of standards and guidelines for the course.”
And this was not the only act of vandalism. The words “Black Lives Matter” were sprayed on the walls of Trump’s new Washington hotel in October.
President Donald Trump was also a target of scathing humor, when Alec Baldwin made a sketch on “Saturday Night Live” impersonating him.
